Bach's Brandenburg Concerto #3

Photos by Lois Siegel

Every year at 4 p.m. local time on the second Sunday of March
amateur string players all over the world perform
Bach's  Brandenburg Concerto #3 in honor of the contribution
to amateur music made by Helen Rice. Helen, who died in 1980,
founded the American Chamber Music Players (ACMP).

The ACMP was incorporated in New York State in 1969 as a non-profit organization.
This play-in means that during a 24-hour period,
people somewhere on the planet are playing the concerto.

Patrick Fitzgerald of Divertimento Orchestra organized a performance of the
Brandenburg March 9, 2003 as a 'first' for Ottawa, and Gordon Slater conducted the event.
