Emanuel Vardi - Viola

Emanuel Vardi’s musical career has spanned over 70 years. He is the only violist to have ever recorded all 24 Paganini Caprices, a historic recording originally recorded for Columbia Records in the 1960’s that has just been re-mastered and re-released.  Emanuel Vardi also holds the distinction of being the only violist, besides his mentor, William Primrose, to have ever given a solo recital in Carnegie Hall.  Highly regarded as a pedagogue, Emanuel Vardi has worked with countless string players preparing them for positions in major orchestras and careers as teachers, chamber musicians, and soloists. As a professor of viola, Dr. Vardi has taught on the faculties of Temple University, the University of Illinois, and the Manhattan School of Music and has given master classes around the world.

Lenore Vardi - Violin

In 1986, Emanuel Vardi and his wife, violinist Lenore Vardi, joined forces forming The Vardi Duo, and their concerts have taken them throughout the US, Canada, and Great Britain.

Lenore Weinstock Vardi gave her solo recital debut in New York’s Merkin Hall in 1982, and was hailed by critic Robert Kimball of the New York Post, as “a violinist of amazing elegance and musicianship…a natural performer.”

Lenore Vardi teachers include some of the most illustrious pedagogues in the string world, including Steven Staryk, Joseph Silverstein, and Dorothy DeLay.  She earned her BM degree in violin performance from Oberlin College, and MM degree in violin performance and chamber music from Sarah Lawrence College with Dorothy DeLay.

Emanuel and Lenore Vardi offer private instruction by audition to talented and dedicated string players of all ages. They  are available either as a duo
or individually.

They focus on a holistic approach that deals with not only repertoire and technique, but also with the physical, mental, and psychological aspects of study and performance.
